Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra
Experience the Magic of the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra
If you're looking for a unique and intimate musical experience in Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (ICO) is calling your name! Located at the stunning Schrott Center for the Arts on the Butler University campus, the ICO offers a cozy, engaging, and vibrant concert experience that stands apart from other larger-scale symphony orchestras. Right now, there’s even more reason to get excited: ticket sales are live with a 15% discount from August 11th to 18th, and the ICO is hosting two free concerts in the park later this month!
A Unique Experience
While other local orchestras perform with larger ensembles in grand venues, the ICO’s 34 musicians create a more intimate and personal experience. With fewer than 50 performers, every seat in the Schrott Center feels close to the action, making you feel truly connected to the music. If you snag seats in the first few rows, you’ll be practically next to the soloists!
The ICO’s programming is also distinct, offering a diverse and approachable repertoire in a casual, welcoming environment. There are even opportunities to sit and learn with Chamber Chats—a free offering happening in the theater prior to the performance where you’ll learn about the history and details of the compositions, giving you a completely new perspective on the music. It’s perfect for both seasoned concertgoers and newcomers looking for a relaxed yet captivating evening.
Make sure to mark your calendars for two free ICO concerts in the park this August! These outdoor performances are a fantastic way to enjoy live music in a relaxed, family-friendly setting:
August 28th at 7:30 PM at Riverside Park
August 29th at 7:00 PM at Holliday Park
Bring a blanket, some snacks, and soak in the music under the stars. These concerts are a perfect introduction to the ICO’s charm and a great opportunity to share the experience with friends and family.
If you are looking for other FREE opportunities— tickets are FREE to students and children (ages 18 and younger) at most concerts this season! These tickets are not available online, so make sure to call at 317-940-9607 or email info@icomusic.org.

Chamber Chat: Before the concert, join the optional Chamber Chat, a free educational talk about the music, its history, and what to listen for during the performance.
The Performance: Concerts start at 7 PM or 7:30 PM depending on the performance, with about 60 minutes of music, a 20-minute intermission, and a slightly shorter second half. You’ll be immersed in the ICO’s dynamic and intimate sound.
