Indianapolis Public Library Events

  • Learning Curve Open Activities: Central Library | 1 pm - 3 pm  Looking for something fun and engaging to do this summer? Kids, teens, and families are welcome to stop by the Learning Curve! Whether you're into STEM activities or getting creative with arts and crafts, there's something for everyone!

  • Teen Art Papermaking: Irvington Branch | 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm Register Here.

  • Clay Creations with Ripple Mobile Arts: Glendale Branch | 6 pm - 7 pm In this hands-on workshop, kids will use clay to press leaves, flowers, and other found objects to create works of art. Learn about pottery as an ancient art form and how archaeologists study these objects to uncover the past. Age 6-12. Register Here. 

  • Minecraft Club at Central Library: Central Library | 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Kids ages 7 and up are invited to join us in the Arena on the 2nd floor for Minecraft Club! Stop by to mine, build, and interact with fellow Minecrafters using the Library’s laptops or iPads. Jump into our premade world or create one entirely of your own!


Bike & Bootcamp: Orange Bridge on the Cultural Trail 

6 pm Combine cardio and strength training for a unique, full body workout along the scenic Downtown Canal. FREE, dynamic fitness class starts and ends at the Orange Bridge, where the Indianapolis Cultural Trail intersects with the Downtown Canal near the Colts Canal Playspace.  Participants will needs to bring their own bike, helmet, and water. Workouts are led by Tiffianie King of 3 B Fit Body, Beauty & Brain LLC. Waiver is required and registration is encouraged.

  • Storytime: Michigan Road Branch | 10:30 am - 11:15 am Preschoolers, toddlers, and their caregivers are invited for stories, fingerplays, crafts and activities.

  • Learning Curve Open Activities: Central Library | 1 pm - 3 pm  Looking for something fun and engaging to do this summer? Kids, teens, and families are welcome to stop by the Learning Curve! Whether you're into STEM activities or getting creative with arts and crafts, there's something for everyone!

  • Natural Essence Hair & Skin Seminar: Part 2 Presented by The Center for Black Literature & Culture: Central Library | 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm This program is designed for women and teenage girls who are interested in learning how to properly care for their natural hair and skin. Register Here. 

  • Family Game Night:Central Library | 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Bring the family for Family Game Night on the 2nd floor by the Atrium!

  • Paws to Read: Glendale Branch | 6 pm - 7 pm School-aged children who are beginning or reluctant readers are invited to read to a non-judgmental registered therapy dog who loves to listen to stories. It's a great way to improve a child's reading skills and self-confidence! Register online.

  • Family Game Night:College Ave Branch | 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm Families are invited to play Pokémon CTG or board games and have fun while hanging out with friends and family. Staff are available to make recommendations and answer questions.


Yoga in the Park: Northside lawn of Ellenberger Park 

7:10 am  Flow together in nature! Drop-in rate $18 with a portion of proceeds supporting Indy Parks & Friends of Ellen Berger. 


Tuesday Run: Indianapolis Cultural Trail 

132 W. Walnut Street

5:30 pm - 6:30 pm FREE, friendly group run. Runners and walkers will gather at the Indianapolis 5:30 PM to stretch before departing  at 5:45 PM for a scenic run or walk along the beautiful Downtown Canal.


Game Night Social: The Garage Food Hall

906 Carrollton Avenue

6 pm - 9 pm Laugh with old friends or meet new ones while enjoying tabletop games. Feel free to bring your favorite game from home. Food from the various vendors will be open for purchase. All ages welcome. Free.

  • Stick it! With Cricut for Teens: College Ave Branch | 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm Join us during our regularly-scheduled teen program (2nd Tuesday each month) at College Avenue Library. No Spandex Required Ride: The Indianapolis Cultural Trail 132 West Walnut Street

5:30 pm Beginner-friendly, 4-10 mile group bike ride that highlights how the Indianapolis Cultural Trail serves as the hub of Indianapolis' trail network. Every week, we explore different greenways, destinations and neighborhoods that are accessible by bicycle from the Cultural Trail and the Pacers Bikeshare network. In addition to the bike ride, we will also make a stop at a local brewery along the way to rest, enjoy an optional drink, and socialize with fellow riders. Free Registration

Roast Ride: Indy Cultural Trail The Orange Bridge on the Canal 332 W. Walnut St. 

10 am - 12:30 pm Please arrive early with time to sign waivers. Join in for a fun-filled morning exploring the vibrant coffee scene in Indianapolis. Hop on your bike and get ready to pedal through the city’s iconic Cultural Trail, stopping at some of the best local coffee shops along the way. We recommend bringing your own bike if possible. However, our friends at the Indianapolis Cultural Trail will be providing a limited number of free Pacers Bikeshare Bikes for each ride.
