Indianapolis Public Library Events

  • Lyla in the Loop’s Adventure Game: Glendale Branch | 11 am - 12pm Embark on a creative adventure inspired by Lyla in the Loop through interactive gameplay! Discover new skills and unleash your creativity with trusted content from PBS Kids. Take home materials to continue the adventure with family and friends. Ages: 5-8. Register Here. 

  • Plants and Pollinators: Michigan Road Branch | 2 pm - 3 pm Explore the wonders of nature through flowers and bees! Examine plants and bees to understand their anatomy and learn how bees and other pollinators play a crucial role in helping plants reproduce. For kids ages 6-12. Register Here. Register Here. 

  • Minecraft Club at Central Library: Central Library | 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Kids ages 7 and up are invited to join us in the Arena on the 2nd floor for Minecraft Club! Stop by to mine, build, and interact with fellow Minecrafters using the Library’s laptops or iPads. Jump into our premade world or create one entirely of your own!


Community Yoga; Garfield Park Burrello Family Center Community Room

6:30 pm  This class is accessible to beginners and first time yogis. Bring your own mat. After the yoga class is over (around 7:35), there is an optional 10-15 guided meditation. The best way to stay up to date about the class (including cancellations) is to join the email list here or email katieHcarlson@gmail.com with questions.


Trivia Night: The Garage Food Hall

  • Storytime: Michigan Road | 10:30 am - 11:15 am Preschoolers, toddlers, and their caregivers are invited for stories, fingerplays, crafts and activities. No registration is required.

  • Page by Page Book Folding 101: Michigan Road Branch | 2 pm - 3 pm Unleash your creativity as you fold, crease, and shape pages into unique designs to take home as we upcycle old books into works of art! Age: Teens Registration Here. 

  • Family Game Night:Central Library | 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Bring the family for Family Game Night on the 2nd floor by the Atrium!

  • Pajama Storytime: Irvington Branch | 6:30 pm - 7 pm Young children and their caregivers are invited to join us for bedtime stories, songs, and fun activities that build a love of reading and learning. Children are welcome to wear their pajamas and bring their favorite stuffie.

  • Family Storytime: College Avenue | 10:30 am 11:30 am Families with children of all ages are invited to listen to stories, sing songs, and participate in movement activities. Stay after stories are finished for some literacy activities and play time.

  • Storytime: Irvington Branch | 10:30 am - 11:15 am Babies and toddlers, birth through age 3, with an adult are invited to enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, movement, and more. It's a great way to introduce little ones to a lifelong love of reading. 

  • Storytime: Glendale Branch | 10:30 am 11:30 am Children ages 2-4 and their caregivers are invited for stories, fingerplays, crafts, and activities.

  • Ballet Storytime: Garfield Park Branch | 10:30 am - 11 am Children 3-6 are invited to join members of Ballet INitiative for a story and a short ballet experience. This program features their upcoming production of Coppelia's Magic Toyshop.

Free First Thursday at Newfields: Newfields 4000 Michigan Road

11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Experience all that Newfields has to offer on the first Thursday of every month. Members and public get free General Admission to the Indianapolis Museum of Art and The Garden, live musical performances, and art-making activities.
