Indianapolis Public Library Events

  • Music & Movement: College Ave Branch | 10:30 am - 11:00 am Children birth through age 5 and their caregiver will join Kindermusik of Indianapolis in this music and movement class. Adults will bond with their child through singing, dancing, and instrument playing. There's room for everyone to grow in this family program! Register Here.

  • Art Adventures: Irvington Branch | 10:30 am - 11:15 am Join Jeremy South of Ripple Mobile Arts to explore art inspired by picture books. Children ages 3-6 will create their own masterpiece using a variety of materials in their favorite color. Dress to mess! Register Here.

  • Minecraft Club: Central Library | 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Kids ages 7 and up are invited to join us on the 3rd floor for Minecraft Club! Stop by to mine, build, and interact with fellow Minecrafters using the library’s laptops or iPads. Jump into our premade world or create one entirely of your own!

  • Family Fun Night: Glendale Branch | 6 pm - 7:30 pm Come to the Glendale Branch for activities for the whole family. This is a monthly program with different activities each month. Some possible themes are games night, STEM activities, role playing and other fun activities. All ages are welcome!

Indianapolis Public Library Events

  • Storytime: Glendale Branch | 10:30 am - 11:30 am Babies up to 24 months and an adult are invited for stories, songs, fingerplays, and fun! Each session is followed by playtime with special toys designed just for babies.

  • Helping Hands with Seeds of Caring: Pike Branch | 4 pm - 5 pm Put your helping hands to work! Learn about food insecurity in our community and how small acts of kindness make a big difference. Kids will decorate reusable canvas shopping bags which will be donated to clients of St. Vincent de Paul-Indianapolis food pantry. Register Here

  • Family Game Night: Central Library | 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Kids, teens, and families are invited to stop by the Atrium on the 2nd floor for Family Game Night! We have lots of board, card, and dice games to explore along with giant-sized chess, checkers, Jenga, and Connect 4.

  • Paws to Read: Glendale Branch | 6 pm - 7 pm Beginning or reluctant readers ages 6 - 11 are invited to read to a registered therapy dog who loves to listen to stories. It's a great way to improve a child's reading skills and self-confidence. Register Here.

  • Teens Dungeons and Dragons: Glendale Branch | 6 pm - 8 pm Calling all ADVENTURERS! Teens who play Dungeons and Dragons or want to learn to play are invited for a short adventure! Dungeon Masters and pre-generated characters will be available.

  • Family Game Night: College Ave Branch | 6  pm - 7:30 pm Families are invited to play Pokémon CTG or board games and have fun while hanging out with friends and family. Staff are available to make recommendations and answer questions.


Story Time: Goodies and Giggles

11 am Join us for story time every Tuesday at 11am. We will read a few books, have our play tables open, and enjoy time together. No registration required. Recommended for ages 5 and under.


Game Night Social: The Garage Food Hall

6 pm - 9 pm Laugh with old friends or meet new ones while enjoying tabletop games. Feel free to bring your favorite game from home. Food from the various vendors will be open for purchase. All ages welcome. Free.

  • Storytime: Irvington Branch | 10:30 am - 11:15 am Babies and toddlers, birth through age 3, with an adult are invited to enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, movement, and more. It's a great way to introduce little ones to a lifelong love of reading.

  • Storytime: College Ave Branch | 10:30 am - 11:30 am Children aged 3-5, and their families, are invited to a half-hour of stories, songs, and rhymes, followed by playtime, 

  • Ballet Storytime with Ballet INitiative: Michigan Road Branch | 10:30 am - 11:00 am Children 3-6 are invited to join members of Ballet INitiative for a story and a short ballet experience. This program features their upcoming production of The Nutcracker with a Twist.

  • Donkey Hodie Hee-Hawesome Activity Days - with WFYI: College Ave Branch | 4:30 pm - 6 pm Welcome to Someplace Else, where Donkey Hodie and her pals dream big and overcome obstacles together. In these sessions, children ages 3-6 will do activities where they investigate problems and work together to find solutions. Attendance at all sessions is encouraged as lessons build on each other.
