Indianapolis Public Library Events

  • Storytime: Glendale Branch | 10:30 am - 11:30 am Babies up to 24 months and an adult are invited for stories, songs, fingerplays, and fun! Each session is followed by playtime with special toys designed just for babies.

  • Storytime: Michigan Road Branch | 10:30 am - 11:15 am Preschoolers, toddlers, and their caregivers are invited for stories, fingerplays, crafts and activities.

  • Family Game Night: Central Library | 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Kids, teens, and families are invited to stop by the Atrium on the 2nd floor for Family Game Night! We have lots of board, card, and dice games to explore along with giant-sized chess, checkers, Jenga, and Connect 4.

  • Paws to Read: College Ave Branch | 6 pm - 7 pm Beginning or reluctant readers ages 6 - 11 are invited to take a turn reading to a registered therapy dog who loves to listen to stories. It's a great way to improve a child's reading skills and self-confidence. Children may read from any book they choose. Register Here.

  • Pajama Storytime: Irvington Branch | 6:30 pm - 7 pm Young children and their caregivers are invited to join us for bedtime stories, songs, and fun activities that build a love of reading and learning. Children are welcome to wear their pajamas and bring their favorite stuffie.


Story Time: Goodies and Giggles

11 am Join us for story time every Tuesday at 11am. We will read a few books, have our play tables open, and enjoy time together. No registration required. Recommended for ages 5 and under.


Game Night Social: The Garage Food Hall

6 pm - 9 pm Laugh with old friends or meet new ones while enjoying tabletop games. Feel free to bring your favorite game from home. Food from the various vendors will be open for purchase. All ages welcome. Free.

  • Explore STEM + More: Central Library | 3 pm - 5 pm Kids and families, stop by the 3rd floor to immerse yourself in the world of science and tech exploration. Discover something new by exploring robots, LEGOs, STEM apps, crafts, games, and more at your own pace.

  • Donkey Hodie Hee-Hawesome Activity Days - with WFYI: College Ave Branch | 4:30 pm - 6 pm Welcome to Someplace Else, where Donkey Hodie and her pals dream big and overcome obstacles together. In these sessions, children ages 3-6 will do activities where they investigate problems and work together to find solutions. Attendance at all sessions is encouraged as lessons build on each other. Free First Thursday at Newfields: Newfields 4000 Michigan Road

11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Experience all that Newfields has to offer on the first Thursday of every month. Members and public get free General Admission to the Indianapolis Museum of Art and The Garden, live musical performances, and art-making activities.
